Tangible Assets
User Need
To get a full picture of your financial health, tracking just cash and bank accounts is not enough. You might own an apartment, a car, or expensive business equipment.
The Tangible Assets management feature solves the need to track physical property. Added assets form the base of your Net Worth and are automatically added to your liquid funds. Thanks to this, the built-in Goal Forecast charts show the most accurate data on when you will reach your financial goals.
Available only for Admins For privacy reasons, the lists of tangible assets and their values are available exclusively to users with the Admin role in a specific budget. Regular members (Member) do not have access to this section and will not see the value of your property, even if they are added to the budget to record daily transactions.
Where to find it
Tangible asset management is located in the analytics section of your budget. UI Path: Money tab -> Select the desired budget -> In the top segmented control, select Result -> In the second control, select Equity -> In the equity card, find the Tangible Assets row and tap the pencil icon to the right of it.
Steps: How to manage assets
Opening the Tangible Assets list screen, you can add new or edit existing records.
Adding a new asset
- Tap the large blue floating Add asset button with a plus icon at the bottom of the screen.
- In the required Asset name field, enter a name (e.g., “Apartment”, “Car”).
- In the required Estimated value field, enter the current estimated value of the asset.
- In the Currency dropdown list, select the currency in which the asset is physically valued (your base currency will be selected by default).
- Tap the Save button at the very bottom of the screen.
Updating asset value (Editing)
- In the asset list, tap on the card of an existing property.
- In the Estimated value field, erase the old amount and enter the new current value for today.
- Tap the Save button. Note: The system will automatically save the previous value and valuation date in a special Valuation History section at the bottom of the screen.
Deleting an asset
- Open the card of an existing asset.
- Tap the Delete icon (trash bin) in the upper right corner.
- In the appearing Delete Asset? window, confirm the action by tapping the red Delete button. Note: Deletion is irreversible and will erase the entire valuation history of this asset.
Expected Result
When you tap the Save button, the text on it will be replaced by a spinning white loading indicator, protecting against double taps.
After successful saving, the form screen will close, and you will return to the asset list. A green pop-up notification (Toast) with the text Asset saved successfully (or Asset deleted successfully upon deletion) will appear at the top of the screen. The new value will be instantly factored into the Equity module and forecast charts.
Frequently Asked Questions (Q&A)
Will the old price be lost if I update the apartment value in the app? No, it won’t be lost. The app automatically keeps a history of changes. Every time you enter a new amount or change the currency, the system saves the old data and creates a new point on the history chart. The entire chronology can be seen in the Valuation History section when editing an asset.
What currency should I use if my assets are in different countries? Enter the value in the currency in which the asset is physically valued (e.g., a house in USD, a car in EUR). Our analytical engine will automatically take the most recent valuation of each asset and convert it to your main dashboard currency at the current exchange rate.
Why can’t I see the “Add asset” button or the assets section itself? If you do not see this section, it means you have the Member role in this budget. Only administrators can add and edit assets. Ask the budget owner to change your role in the settings.
Possible Errors
When filling out the form, client validation may block the data and show red text below the fields:
- Required: Appears if you leave the Asset name or Estimated value field empty.
- Max 100 characters: Occurs if the asset name is too long.
- Invalid number: Appears if an incorrect format is entered in the value field (e.g., multiple dots or special characters).
If you try to bypass the interface or a role synchronization failure occurs, the server (API) will return an error as a red pop-up Toast:
- “Only space admins can create tangible assets.”: 403 Forbidden error. This means you were downgraded to the Member role and lost the rights to manage property.
- “User is not a member of this space.”: 400 Bad Request error. Occurs during a critical failure if the system tried to save an asset to a budget from which you were removed.
