Hiding a Budget
User Need
If you are a member of many budgets, your main dashboard can become cluttered over time. For example, you may have finished a freelance project or temporarily put a business on hold, and you no longer need to see its data every day.
The Hide Budget feature allows you to declutter your main screen. You can remove inactive budget cards from your active list while preserving all financial history and the ability to return to it at any time.
Available to all users Hiding a budget is strictly a personal setting. Any active participant can hide a budget for themselves, regardless of their role (Admin or Member). If you hide a shared budget, it will not affect the other members in any way — it will still be visible to them.
Where to find it
Visibility management is done in the list editing mode on the main screen. UI Path: In the bottom menu, go to the Money tab -> Tap the floating button with a pencil icon in the bottom right corner.
Steps: How to hide or restore a budget
Hiding a budget
- While on the Money tab, tap the floating button (pencil icon) to enter the list editing mode.
- In this mode, an Open eye icon will appear to the right of each active budget’s name.
- Tap this icon next to the budget you want to hide.
- To exit editing mode, tap the back button or apply the changes. The budget card will disappear from your main screen.
Restoring a hidden budget
- Enter the list editing mode on the Money tab (pencil icon).
- Scroll to the very bottom of the screen, below the list of active budgets.
- Find the Hidden budgets section.
- Tap the Crossed-out eye icon to the right of the desired budget’s name.
- The budget will instantly return to the active list.
Expected Result
When you tap the hide icon, the budget does not become semi-transparent: it instantly moves with an animation from the active list to the Hidden budgets section.
A green pop-up notification (Toast) will immediately appear at the top of the screen with the text Budget hidden (or Budget restored when restoring). After exiting editing mode, your main dashboard will contain only relevant cards.
Frequently Asked Questions (Q&A)
Is hiding a budget synchronized across my devices? Yes. The visibility status is saved on the server in your profile. If you hide a budget on your smartphone, it will automatically disappear from the main screen when you log in via the Web version or another device.
Will my transactions be deleted if I hide the budget? No, hiding is strictly a visual setting (UI feature). All your transactions, categories, and goals remain completely safe.
Will other members of a shared budget know that I hid it? No. Your hide setting has absolutely no impact on the visibility of this budget for other members (including the owner).
Possible Errors
Since hiding a budget does not require text input, there are no client-side validation errors here. However, in rare cases, the API may return a system error (displayed as a red Toast):
- 404 Not Found: Appears if the budget was already completely deleted by the owner at the moment of hiding/restoring, or if you were removed from the members list.
- 403 Forbidden (“You do not have permission to perform this action”): Occurs if your access to this budget was “frozen” by an administrator (changed to Frozen status). You cannot manage the visibility of a frozen budget.
