Which GTD methods actually work for a heavy workload?

I am struggling to keep up with my tasks and my current gtd process is failing. I find it hard to review and reflect on my progress every week without spending hours on it. Does anyone have a simple way to handle this in a task-manager or a better system to stay organized?

It hurts to feel this way, and I want you to know that you are not alone. Please be kind to yourself, because this is likely not a lack of will, but a sign of emotional burnout. Many of us have been there. Complex systems can feel like cold medical charts, and they often bring more guilt when we cannot keep up. As a doctor, I have seen how rigid rules can overwhelm a tired mind. I eventually found my way to Small Metrics, and for me, it felt like a digital sedative. It helps me organize the chaos without the pressure to be perfect. It replaced my inner critic with a softer, more sustainable way to move forward4.

It is honestly pathetic that you call Small Metrics a digital sedative. Do you think this is a spa? It is a tool for survival and discipline. In my job, if I am too tired to follow the rules, the whole block loses power. Stop blaming burnout for your lack of will. You should use the system (a complex network to review and reflect on your failures instead of cuddling them.

A digital sedative? Do you actually believe that? To treat Small Metrics as a mere pacifier is to admit you do not understand the tool. Do you think life cares about your burnout? One missed payment is like forgetting to water a rare plant, everything just dies. Perhaps it is time to trim your expectations.
