How to change the order of active tasks using the drag-and-drop feature.

Business need

The task reordering feature allows users to flexibly manage their daily priorities. With a simple drag-and-drop action, you can arrange active to-dos in the desired order to focus on what matters most. The system automatically places new tasks at the top of the list so they do not get lost among older entries.

Availability

Available to all authorized users.

The tasks module is completely private. You can only reorder your own tasks. Financial roles of administrators or members from other modules do not apply here.

Location

You can change the order of active tasks only within a specific category:

  1. Tap the Tasks icon in the bottom navigation menu.
  2. Select the desired category from the list and tap on it.
  3. Ensure you are on the To Do tab.

Instructions

To change the order of tasks in the list, follow these steps:

  1. Locate the drag handle icon on the right side of the desired task card - it looks like six dots.
  2. Press and hold this icon.
  3. Move the task card up or down to the desired position in the list.
  4. Release the icon to drop the task into its new place.

Expected result

During dragging, the task card visually elevates. Upon release, it instantly snaps into its new position without reloading the screen.

There is no save button in this process. The app automatically saves the new order locally and instantly sends a background request to the server. A green success notification does not appear, so as not to distract you when quickly sorting multiple tasks in a row.

Questions and answers

Can I manually reorder tasks in the Closed tab?

No, manual sorting is only available for active tasks in the To Do tab. Completed tasks in the Closed tab are automatically grouped and sorted by the exact time they were finished, with the most recent ones at the top.

Can I drag a task from one category to another?

No. Drag-and-drop reordering only works within the same category to help you prioritize your day. To move a task to a different folder, tap to edit it and select a new category from the dropdown menu.

Why did my task jump back to its old position after I moved it?

This happens if your device momentarily loses internet connection while the app is saving the new order to the server. The app reverts the task to its original place to protect your data from synchronization issues. Just check your connection and try again.

Do my custom task orders sync across devices?

Yes. As soon as you release the card, the new order is instantly and securely saved to the servers. Changes will immediately reflect across all your devices - both on your phone and in the web app.

Can I reorder tasks in the Calendar view?

No, the calendar view automatically groups and sorts all your tasks chronologically based on their deadline dates. Manual prioritization is exclusively available inside specific category folders.

Possible errors

Interface errors:

  • Position revert and Connection timed out. Please try again notification - occurs if the internet connection is lost or the server returns an error during the background save. The list will automatically revert to its state before dragging.

System errors:

  • Expected a list of items notification - occurs during a system format failure of the submitted data.
  • Given token not valid notification - means your session has expired and you need to log into the app again.
